introducing Dr. Mariam El Boakye-Gyasi

Dr. Mariam El Boakye-Gyasi, Ghana’s trailblazing academic. She recently achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the country’s first female Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics.

Dr. Boakye-Gyasi holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree, a Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmaceutics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Her educational journey demonstrates her dedication to advancing her knowledge and expertise.

As a Senior Lecturer at KNUST, Dr. Boakye-Gyasi teaches Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology to both undergraduate and graduate students. Her research focuses on drug formulation, quality control, and exploring the use of local excipients, natural polymers, and nanotechnology.
In addition to her teaching role, Dr. Boakye-Gyasi holds leadership positions within the Department of #Pharmaceutics. She serves as the postgraduate seminars and research coordinator, guiding aspiring researchers, and as the deputy examinations officer, ensuring academic rigor.

Dr. Boakye-Gyasi’s influence extends beyond academia. She is the Academic Capacity Lead for the FIP-#UNESCO UNITWIN Center for Excellence, contributing to pharmaceutical education and research in Africa. She is also affiliated with FIP-WISE, advocating for gender equality in science and education.
Recognized as a Fellow of the University of Michigan African Presidential Scholars’ Program, Dr. Boakye-Gyasi is highly regarded for her scholarly contributions and collaboration with esteemed professionals.
